Managing Conversations as a Young Scientist (two-day)

The workshop will be held in English and run for two days, on September 27 and 28, 2022.

 

As a young scientist you are involved in many meetings and conferences: you have conversations with your PI, you are in charge of your bachelor and master students, you have to instruct them, you negotiate with your team colleagues, stake holder or clients. You are part of an appraisal either as a team member or possibly even as a leader.

 

You need to understand and reflect the communication process in order to manage these conversations. This workshop will provide you with a variety of contents and tools, which enable you to prepare and perform your conversations skillfully:

  • Basics of communication
  • An effective strategic approach to conversations
  • Rhetorical devices
  • How to avoid and manage misunderstandings
  • How to deal with challenging conversations
  • Working on practical examples of your daily communication experiences
  • Feedbacktraining

 

There will be short inputs, group discussions, exercises, role plays, Feedback, reflection on personal communication skills.

 

This workshop is open to doctoral researchers and postdocs at KIT who are KHYS members.

 

The workshop will be held in English and run for two days, on September 27 and 28, 2022.

Costs/ Payment
