Guidelines for the Postdoc Phase at KIT

The ▶ Guidelines for the Postdoc Phase at KIT help establish transparency and reliability for postdoctoral researchers and their superiors during a qualification phase important for their career. They consist of guiding principles for both parties and outline the framework conditions during the postdoctoral phase at KIT. Thus they constitute a signal directed inwards and clarify the mutual responsibilities for a successful postdoctoral period.

The following guidelines are based on the umbrella strategy KIT 2025. A project team composed of employees from the Research Office (FOR) as well as from the Human Resources Development and Vocational Training (PEBA) service units worked together with staff from KHYS on a first draft. The project team based its work on the “Guidelines for the Postdoc Phase within the Helmholtz Association”, which were adopted on 18th April 2018 by the General Assembly of the Helmholtz Association. The resulting proposal was agreed upon by the Ombudsman for good research practice at KIT (Professor Heinz Kalt) as well as discussed and revised in detail by the KHYS Steering Committee.

The ▶ Guidelines for the Postdoc Phase at KIT were adopted by the Executive Board on 13th May 2019 as well as by the KIT Senate on 20th May 2019.
