Are you interested in learning German? And have you already checked out the upcoming courses offered by Studienkolleg Karlsruhe? Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) offers doctoral researchers and postdocs at KIT the opportunity to take part in the German courses at Studienkolleg. For those doctoral researchers, who are not enrolled, we even offer a refund for participation fees for doctoral researchers and postdocs for German classes in the winter semester 2025/26. Please find all information about who is eligible for the refund and how to apply on our website.

Application Process for the Refund Program
You can apply here via our event calendar.

• If you are enrolled as a doctoral researcher, simply select the course you want to take here on our event calenader.
• If you are not enrolled as a doctoral researcher, plesae select your course and apply for the refund (both options will be indicated in our event calendar)

Please make sure that you have taken the online placement test recommended for the course (if necessary). Then not only chose your course level but this time also pick the exact course you want to take before registering for a course and applying for the refund. Deadline for the application and/or applying for the refund program at KHYS is September 19, 2025.

For successful applicants the process will be as follows (our process has changed!)
KHYS will inform all applicants of the outcome of their application until October 2, 2025. If your application for a place and/or the refund is successful, this means you have been accepted for your chosen course. Please do not register at Studienkolleg additionally!

Important: Unlike in previous semesters, KHYS will only make the refund if you have passed the final exam. After the course has ended, KHYS will ask you to hand in all necessary documents and information in order to process the payment for the refund.
