Lecture | Doing your Doctorate at KIT

The decision to pursue a doctorate raises numerous questions: What are the admission requirements? Which forms of doctoral studies exist? How do I find a topic? Who will supervise me? As a central institution for early-career researchers at KIT, Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) serves as the first point of contact for students interested in pursuing a doctorate and for current doctoral researchers. This talk provides an overview of the most important information regarding the doctorate at the KIT, covering among other things questions students should consider before starting their doctorate, as well as the formal steps required before, during, and at the end of their doctoral journey.

Workshop | Promotion: ja oder nein?

Der Workshop unterstützt Teilnehmende dabei, eine fundierte Entscheidung über eine mögliche Promotion zu treffen. Durch Gruppenarbeiten werden zum einen die Kompetenzen und Eigenschaften ausgearbeitet, die für eine erfolgreiche Promotion wichtig sind und zum anderen typische Aufgaben analysiert, die während der Promotionszeit anfallen. Zudem ermöglicht der Workshop den Teilnehmenden, sich mit Promovierenden am KIT auszutauschen, die von ihren Erfahrungen und Aufgaben berichten und wertvolle Tipps zum "Projekt Promotion "geben.
