On the KIT website, you will find continuously updated information on measures and recommendations for action in connection with the coronavirus.
In the following, we have additionally compiled some essential information especially for KIT doctoral researchers.
Due to the dynamic situation, the information and recommendations may change at any time. Therefore, please note the information on the websites listed below and especially the FAQ pages of the crisis unit.

Access to software and literature for doctoral researchers with a GuP account
Doctoral researchers with an account of the Guest and Partner Administration (GuP) can have access to software (software shop) and literature (library services) to the same extent as KIT staff. Further information is available here.
Provision of online communication tools by the SCC: MS Teams and DFNconf: MS Teams und DFNconf
To enable communication in the current situation both bilaterally and in groups to take place online, the following services, among others, are available:
Microsoft Teams is a cloud platform that combines chat, meetings, video conferencing, notes, collaborative file editing and sharing, and to-do's. This supports teamwork and especially collaboration with colleagues in the home office.
The SCC provides this platform as a collaborative tool (in the context of the Corona crisis) using the KIT account. In the meantime, persons with a GuP account also have access to MS teams at KIT.
Both KIT employees and persons with a GuP account must first agree to the Microsoft Team Privacy Statement once. After that, there may be a delay of up to an hour before the account is activated.

Alternatively, you can use the tool DFNconf, which can also be used in a university environment and also offers the possibility to conduct video, audio and web conferences. For more information, see this SCC website.
Conducting oral examinations during the Corona crisis
Unfortunately, the defence of dissertations is also affected by the measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus. However, KIT is trying to keep the effects of the corona crisis on oral examinations as low as possible. Therefore, examinations via video conference may currently be a possibility at KIT, provided that it is absolutely necessary that they take place in a prompt manner and otherwise lead to considerable disadvantages.
From April 20, 2020, however, it will again be permissible to hold oral examinations with no more than five persons present.
In special cases, it will also be possible to hold oral examinations by video conference system beyond April 19, 2020.

Information of the DFG for scholarship holders and fellows
The DFG has published a letter on financial measures and regulations for scholarship holders* as well as for persons who are active as fellows in DFG programs.
Docata - the web portal for KIT doctoral researchers continues to be available
The functions of the Docata web portal are fully available. The registration as a doctoral researcher at KIT, the participation in the follow-up registration according to HSchulDSV BW, as well as the registration and deregistration for the KHYS-Infomail are still possible.
