Project Management in Science and Technology (1.5-day) [ONLINE WORKSHOP]

Thursday, 18 January 2024, 9:00-17:00
Online

The event will be held in English and run for 1.5 days, on January 18, 2024, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and January 19, 2024, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Research has always been project-focused. However, the increasing complexity of projects and project consortia means that old approaches are no longer enough. Modern project management allows you to get the most out of your resources and to perform more research with fewer resources, at lower stress levels.

In this 1.5 day workshop you will learn:

  • To develop the goals and scope of your project,
  • The importance of the quality – time – cost triad,
  • How to define milestones, work packages and their interdependencies,
  • The simple trick that changes your project from being late to being early,
  • To handle the main communication processes effectively
  • To clarify who does what and by when.

This workshop is highly interactive and allows you to apply the concepts, models and tools of project management directly to your research project. In addition, you will identify the changes you want to make so that your work is more effective and enjoyable.

Please note: In addition to this workshop, KHYS offers other project management courses with different focal points, which may overlap in terms of content:

  • Getting Started. The Path to a Successful Doctorate
  • Basics of Project Management
  • Projektmanagement in der Industrie
  • Agile Project Management (for advanced learners with prior knowledge in project management basics)

This event is open to doctoral researchers and postdocs at KIT who are KHYS members.
