From Mistakes to Mastery. Redefining failure in Academia [On-site Workshop]

Wednesday, 22 April 2026, 9:00-13:00
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
Bldg. 30.95, seminar room A+B (1st floor)

The event will be held in English, on April 22, 2026.

In academic environments, mistakes are often seen as setbacks—something to be hidden, avoided, or feared. But what if we reimagined failure as a powerful tool for growth, innovation, and resilience?

Through interactive sessions, real-world examples, and reflective exercises, we’ll uncover how embracing mistakes can lead to deeper learning, stronger collaboration, and a more authentic academic experience.

 What You’ll Gain

  • Insight into the psychology and sociology of failure in academic contexts
  • Strategies for fostering openness, trust, and constructive feedback
  • Tools for integrating failure-friendly practices into research and teaching
  • Confidence to lead with vulnerability and model resilience

 Workshop Highlights

  • Case studies from academia: when failure led to breakthrough
  • Group activities: reframing personal and institutional mistakes
  • Role-play: navigating difficult conversations around mistakes
  • Action planning: building your own roadmap for a healthier culture
