Quality Assurance in the Doctoral System
Systematic ▶ quality assurance has long been part of KIT’s doctoral system. KHYS carries out regular ▶ surveys of doctoral researchers, supervisors, and postdocs at KIT, and – together with the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) – also surveys alumni who left KIT after completing their doctorate to track career paths and outcomes. In addition, KHYS assists KIT Graduate Schools and doctoral programs in conducting ▶ evaluations, helping them fine‑tune the quality of their offerings.
The survey results give KIT valuable insight into the doctoral system. They are used at every organizational level – Executive Board, KIT Senate, KIT Departments, advisory boards, committees, doctoral programs, etc. – as a factual basis for discussing and implementing quality‑enhancing measures.
Evaluation reports are posted on the KIT Intranet, and by taking part in the surveys you gain a solid evidence base for reflecting on and improving both your own supervision practice and the overall doctoral conditions in your discipline.
