Furthermore, KHYS regularly promotes KIT as an excellent place to pursue a doctorate by participating in the ▶ KIT Career Fair and other national and international recruitment events.

Prerequisites for the Doctorate
Prior to issuing a confirmation of supervision, you should carefully assess the candidate’s suitability for pursuing a doctorate (scientific aptitude, independency, language skills, etc.). In this context, the ▶ KHYS Aspirant Grant (Doc) can support you by offering the possibility to invite prospective doctoral researchers from abroad for a one‑month stay at KIT.
You should also ensure that prospective doctoral researchers fulfil all formal prerequisites for pursuing a doctorate at KIT:
- Particularly for candidates who obtained their degree abroad, an ▶ equivalence assessment should be carried out in advance.
- The formal prerequisites for admission are stipulated in the ▶ doctoral regulations of the respective KIT Departments.
- If you’re unsure whether a candidate meets your KIT Department’s admission criteria (e.g., required final grade, place or field of study), you should consult the Doctoral Admissions Committee.
Additional points:
- Clarify legal aspects, such as ▶ foreign trade law, early on.
- If the doctorate is to be funded by a scholarship, carefully review the funding conditions. Some scholarship providers, for example, require repayment if the doctorate is not completed or impose a return‑to‑home obligation on funded researchers.
- Please be aware that doctoral researchers who plan to finance their doctorate with their own funds may face considerable extra challenges.
