Support for Onboarding Doctoral Researchers
A well‑structured onboarding process helps doctoral researchers orient themselves quickly, clarify roles and responsibilities, and set realistic goals. This helps to prevent misunderstandings, strengthen collaboration, and lay the foundation for a successful doctorate.
In this context, KHYS serves as the central point of contact for all questions related to the doctorate – for both you and your doctoral researchers. We encourage you to refer your doctoral researchers to the KHYS support offers and consulting services at an early stage. Among other things, KHYS regularly offers training courses e. g. on dissertation project management, which support doctoral researchers at the start of the doctoral phase.
Welcome Event for Doctoral Researchers
Four times a year, KHYS organizes a ▶ Welcome Event where doctoral researchers receive comprehensive information about the offers and support structures at KIT. The event also offers valuable opportunities for networking among peers.
Support for International Doctoral Researchers
For questions regarding visas, residence permits, health insurance, and other related topics, the ▶ International Welcome Office (IWO) provides support. The IWO website offers, among other things, ▶ checklists for the admission of international researchers. In addition, IScO regularly organizes events and networking opportunities that facilitate a smooth start at KIT and in Karlsruhe, such as the ▶ "Good Morning, Karlsruhe" event series.
