Make the Most of Mentoring to Actively Design Your Future
The mentoring programs offered at the KIT provide junior researchers with target-oriented support and assistance for their career development. Our mentoring programs involve an experienced person, the mentor, supporting an inexperienced person, the mentee, in his or her professional development. The main focus is on assisting the mentee by exchanging experiences and informing him or her about important and in particular informal sources of information and networks.
As a mentor, you should enjoy helping others by sharing your experiences with them. Intense conversations train your advisory skills and enable you to reflect on your own supervisory behavior, while specific training programs help you to develop your skills and abilities in process-oriented mentoring and individual coaching sessions. Regularly organized meetings with other mentors and mentees expand your network and give you the chance to profit from the exchange of experiences.
As a mentee, you receive specific support, both on a personal level from a mentor and as part of a team at supporting workshops. Regular reflections help you to evaluate and learn more about yourself and your abilities. In addition, being integrated into new networks that are relevant to your professional life enables you to establish important contacts for your future.
By participating in one of the KIT mentoring programs, you can get new incentive for your further career and plans for the future.
