Workshop

[ONLINE-SEMINAR] How to advance your career in research and get funded (two-day)

Thursday, 08 July 2021, 9:00-15:00
online

The workshop will be held in English and run for two days, on July 8 and 9, 2021.

Taking an international perspective, this workshop explores the perspectives of developing a sustainable career in research. It helps the participants to assess their current position, to clarify their career aspirations and long-term research goals as well as to develop a road map for achieving them.

The workshop also provides essential guidance on exploiting research funding opportunities effectively at the postdoctoral stage. Participants will learn how to employ key strategy tools to develop their research agenda, identify a portfolio of funding opportunities to pursue in the coming years and manage the grant life cycle systematically to build their resources and capabilities for further career advancement.

By participating in the workshop, you will be better equipped to:

• navigate the German research and innovation landscape,

• understand the broader context in which higher education and research institutions operate,

• respond to the evolving roles and responsibilities of a researcher as the career progresses,

• develop a competitive research agenda,

• identify and exploit funding opportunities effectively,

• and move from smaller to larger grants.
