The workshop will be held in English and run for two days, on September 21, 2020,  9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and September 22, 2020, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Taking an international perspective, this workshop explores the perspectives of developing a sustainable career in research. It helps the participants to assess their current position, to clarify their career aspirations and long-term research goals as well as to develop a road map for achieving them.

The workshop also provides essential guidance on exploiting research funding opportunities effectively at the postdoctoral stage. Participants will learn how to employ key strategy tools to develop their research agenda, identify a portfolio of funding opportunities to pursue in the coming years and manage the grant life cycle systematically to build their resources and capabilities for further career advancement.

• Allocation of places: Given that we consider this topic particularly relevant for postdoctoral researchers (who are members of KHYS), such individuals will have priority for attending. Doctoral researchers, however, can still register and will be offered a spot if not all places are taken by postdocs. (If you are currently not yet a member of KHYS, you can register here.)

• Contingency-planning: This training event is currently planned as an in-person event. However, we are also committed to holding it even if the current restrictions were to continue into autumn, by either adopting a different format (i.e. webinar) or by switching to an alternative date.
