The Postdoctoral Period

The postdoctoral period begins after the completion of the doctoral studies. It aims to provide further academic qualifications and career and qualification orientation and generally lasts 2 to 4 years. As a postdoctoral researcher*, you can profit from all of the benefits of the KHYS Network.

Research Stays Abroad

If they have not already done so, postdoctoral junior researchers should complete research travel abroad during the postdoctoral period, for example as supported by the KHYS Research Travel Grant. Nowadays, international experience is a significant support aspect for many programs (e.g. Junior Research Group Leader) and a general precondition where academic qualification is concerned.

*KHYS promotes postdoctoral researchers in the first postdoc phase (qualification/ orientation phase, which should last no longer than three years).
